Nikkie, age 23, from Hoofddorp, the Netherlands, was a rising softball star. Her father was a renowned softball coach, even coaching an Olympic softball team, leading everyone to have high expectations of Nikkie’s future success in the sport. That was before she was injured eight years ago sliding into base, causing her to suffer severe damage to her knee and ankle. “I was in pain since the injury, not sleeping at night and not even able to walk or stand without pain,” shares Nikkie.
